Lift Equipment Operator (Walk-Behind) – Volunteer Role #1

Oakville FARE Share Food Bank is seeking a qualified Lift Equipment Operator to support our warehouse operations and help us serve our community safely and efficiently.

This role involves operating a walk-behind lift machine (not a ride-on machine). The operator walks alongside the equipment and controls it by hand.

Requirements

  • Already trained and certified to operate walk-behind lift equipment
  • Holds current, valid certification/licensing (including required safety training)
  • Comfortable working in a warehouse environment
  • Safety-focused, reliable, and able to follow procedures
  • Physically able to operate equipment and assist with light warehouse tasks

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate walk-behind lift equipment to move pallets and food donations
  • Assist with loading, unloading, and organizing inventory
  • Follow all safety and food-handling protocols
  • Work collaboratively with staff and volunteers

Time Commitment

  • Mondays: 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
  • Thursdays (split shift):
    • 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
    • 2:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
    • Volunteers may commit to one or more of these shifts.

    Warehouse Support Volunteer Role #2 

    Oakville Fare Share Food Bank is seeking dependable volunteers to support warehouse operations, including receiving, sorting, and putting away food donations, assisting with recycling and garbage, and working as part of a team in a busy, community-focused environment.

    This is a permanent volunteer role with opportunities on Mondays (9:00 am – 2:00 pm) and/or Thursdays (10 am – 2:00 pm), and may be shared on a rotational basis.

    Light to moderate physical activity is required, including the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
